We believe that anyone heading outside the resort boundary should have at least a basic level of avalanche training. The Avalanche Canada Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST1) Course provides an entry-level decision-making framework based on the most advanced knowledge available. It teaches you how to monitor snow conditions and layers in the snowpack, which zones are relatively safe to enjoy, which ones would require some extra precaution and planning, and which ones are a no go.
